Inspirational Images of Lanzarote

Lanzarote is often referred to as the chicest of the Canary islands. We hope this gallery of our images of Lanzarote will inspire you and tempt you to visit the island. They reflect the nature, character and diversity of the island. Click this Link to go straight to the Gallery.

Where is Lanzarote

Lanzarote and its neighbouring Canary islands sit in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of north Africa. Their climate makes them a popular year round holiday destination. It is the most northern and eastern of the Canaries sitting a little under 80 miles from the African coast.

A Bit About Lanzarote

Also known as Isla del Fuego or Fire Island, Lanzarote has almost 300 square miles covered with solidified lava fields in black, pink, and ochre. There are also close to 300 volcanic peaks and in 1993 UNESCO declared Lanzarote a Biosphere Reserve. Primarily this was to help the local population preserve the landscape. We think it is a breathtaking island because it is bursting with variety and character.

What Does Lanzarote Have to Offer

There is no end of things for you to do in Lanzarote. It is just a matter of taste and how you choose to use your time when you are there. If you want to you can probably see the highlights of the island in a couple of days providing you hire a car. Alternatively one really long day if you make it a whistle stop tour. If you take two days, it makes sense for you to cover the north one day and the south the next.

If you choose to hire a car then there are plenty of car hire places. It pays to shop around to get the best deal. In 2019 we paid a little over €50 for 2 days hire for a small car, inclusive of all insurances which seemed good value for money.
