Images of Cyprus
Cyprus is a big island so you are limited in what you are able to do in one visit. The images of Cyprus in this gallery record what we were able to achieve in a week.
Cyprus is divided between the Greeks and the Turks following the Turkish invasion in 1974. The capital, Nicosia, remains the only divided capital city in the world.
Cyprus in Winter
We headed to Paphos on the south west coast of Greek Cyprus for a week of winter sun during the month of January. There may have been sun but boy did the weather catch people out. Our visit coincided with a spell of bitterly cold weather with biting winds that blew down from Siberia. The temperature dropped so low that it set new reocord lows in the Troodos Mountains. They often get snow there in winter and even have a couple of ski runs in the mountains, but this took it to a whole new level. Unfortunately a lot of tourists got caught out and didnt have heavy enough clothes to get out and about. Being Scottish we tend to be prepared for all eventualities and travel with warm clothes anyway. So we wern’t affected too much.
Cyprus Gallery
This gallery hopefully captures the character of the Greek part of the island and what we were able to cover in our 7 days. Hopefully you’ll enjoy looking through the photos as much we did taking them. If you are looking for a photo of somewhere in particular that isn’t there let us know and we can check for you.
